Potties, Friends, and More Mother's Day Fun

On the walk home from the park Add caption
That's the smile I love to see. What a great mother's day gift.
Long walk back to the house.
Cookie Baked on top of a brownie. What? My life is changed forever.
Story time part 1. (I took on part two with the big girls, which Tim cleaned. No problem.)
Getting geared up for potty training tomorrow with  http://www.3daypottytraining.com/
I seriously better start planning for Father's Day because Tim rocked M-day 2013.

The best part was that we taught the kids that mom can do whatever she wants on Mother's Day and they cant bother me at all. And then he kindly enforced this all day. Before I knew it, the day was mostly over, I still felt rested, and he was baking! Crazy!! And yummy! He made a boxed creation that was a chocolate cookie baked on top of a brownie pie. Again, I have my work cut out for me in June. Damn.

We spent the second half of the day walking down to the park by the pool and then eating more brownie cookie, of course, when we got home. Kids are in bed, and my man is cleaning. Best day ever. Almost sad to see tomorrow.

Next, I have to announce that I am feeling better on the friend front because of a 6 year old named Samantha.

We heard a knock at the door yesterday, and I panicked. Since no one we know has ever knocked or come a calling, it had to be a stranger or a murderer or both. The door has a huge window in it. I was sure we would either die by murder or die of some kind of embarrassment for not knowing someone I was suppose to know at the door. It was a little awkward like that at first, but it got better.

It was a woman with a little girl. I recognized the little girl but not by name. They did not immediately introduce themselves or state their business because mom was busy apologizing for the unexpected visit, which is clearly not her usual approach. I asked the little girl who was smiling from ear to ear if she was in Quinn's class. She nodded, and her smile got even bigger if that is possible. Her name was Samantha, and they were inviting Quinn to the pool. They didn't have our number and no one who had it had texted then back, so they came by. Everyone knows where we live since our house is in the school parking lot. :) I reassured her that it was not weird that they stopped by, and that me and all my girls would love to join them at the pool. (I already let Quinn go on one play date without me here, and it just doesn't seem necessary.) We started getting ready and Terrie (the mom and the awesome art teacher at school) and Samantha accepted our offer to come in and see our unfinished house while we packed for the pool. They were way fun and easy going, which we loved. Terrie was fun and easy to talk to, but it was tiny Samantha that stole my heart. She was so nice to BOTH my girls, and they all played together at the house and at the pool so beautifully. Kenna looked alive and happy and the giggles from everyone lit up the space. I was so grateful for sweet Sam for having just the energy and love that my family needed. It was inspiring to watch her happiness and her love of everyone around her. Thanks, little (really little) Samantha. Do come again!

And finally, potty training!! That's right. We are almost out of Costco diapers. I refuse to pay shipping or learn to love a new brand, so, people, it is time for 3 day potting training ROUND 3. We start tomorrow, and I am so excited. Although it can be stressful, I love these special hands on days with my girls. I am sending Quinn to school and McKenna out with Tim for the day. Once everyone is out, I will roll up the rugs, fill Lizza with juice, throw the diapers in the trash and start this party!! No potty chair this time. We'll see how that goes. I think it will be fun! Wish me luck! Let's do this!
