Yes, the Bottle fairy came last night! I think I have mentioned that Lizza is the worst sleeper ever. Not her fault. Tim is really sensitive to noise, and in all the move and the living in right quarters, he started giving her whatever she wanted. This sometimes turned into like 6 bottle a night! On top of that she can and does climb out of her crib. It's a big mess. We were going to sleep train when we got here, but the neighbors house is so close -- and we didn't want to keep them up all night. So, here we are, the neighbors are out of town, and it is time. We talked up the bottle fairy all day and talked all about how Lizza is a big girl. She liked this idea a lot. (During potty training round 1, she said she was still a baby). We collected the bottles and sippy cups (because I am way over those too), and we cheered and danced and played "hide the bottles." Then we put them in a basket on the porch. Lizza was pretty much adorable while she was saying good bye. She looked kind of sad, and so I asked if she needed to day good bye again. I opened the door, and she blew them kisses. Then she hesitated, and then stepped closer and picked one up to give it a hug. She whispered something to it, and then put it back and walked away. It would be awesome to have video or pictures of that moment, but it was pretty special to just watch it in real time and soak it in.
Then the fun started. She started to cry before I even left her bedroom. I had an iPad, and I sat on the landing of the stairs, and tries to commit to the moment. Walking up and down the stairs to out her back in her bed ten times would have out me in a bad mood and would have ruined everything, I think. So I sat their and watched a show. She came out three times, and i just put her right back in bed. On the fourth time, I heard her jump out of bed, but she did not come to the door. I walked in to check on her, and he was curled on in the corner of my bed kind of whimpering because she knew the battle was over. I put her in bed, and I didn't see her again until 2 am when i felt a giant cat curled up in that same stop by my feet. Thank goodness I looked! I saw y sweet big girl curled up again. I went back to sleep. Tim was up with her all night. But there was no milk involved, and I think we are half way through the battle.
The girls woke of to a basket of goodies instead I bottles. I was at yoga for the unveiling of the gifts. But they were jumping up and down when I got home. And the best part? They were yelling, "Mommy! The bottle fairy fixed your phone!" So, yup, no milk, and I am back on the grid. It's a bottle fairy miracle!
