The Passive Apology

Quinn grabbed a book out of her friend Asher's hand yesterday and started screaming and yelling and throwing a fit because she had been playing with that book earlier in the morning. I didn't have time to fully deal with the situation at the moment because I was 16 minutes into a 20 minute Jillian Michaels body shred video with Melissa. I took the book away from both girls and put it in Time Out on top of the fridge. Asher got the raw end of the deal.

An hour later after Asher and Melissa had gone home, Quinn said she wanted the book to come out of Time Out. I finally had time for my teaching moment. We talked about what happen and how it was not nice to pull the book out of Asher's hands and yell at her. Then we talked about ways that Quinn could make things right with Asher. I said that we could call Asher and tell her sorry, but that made Quinn really nervous and embarrassed. So then I told her about texting.

With just a little help, Quinn dictated the follow text to Asher: Dear Asher, I'm sorry I yelled at you and said, "That's mine." I'm going to try to not do that again. I'm sorry. Love, Quinn.

Asher text back: Dear Quinn, Thank you. I still love you. Love, Asher.

Then I text Melissa: Quinn was too embarrassed to call, so I taught her about passive apologies. :)

Melissa text back: Nice. Asher was like, "Where is she? I don't see her." Ha, ha.

Love that Asher couldn't figure where Quinn's words were coming from. "Where is she?" So cute. We love Asher so much. Among other things, she is good at forgiving.
