We slept in our tent for the first time last night. It was awesome and easy and cheap and beautiful. I loved it. We stayed at a campground in Ridgway State Park. The parks here are so clean and well put together, and the woman who checked us in was so nice and informed that we just about signed our life away to Colorado right then and there. So far we like Ridgway best. It is affordable and has a community garden. But really all the town here have an amazing sense of pride and community. They groom and design everything and really hold on to old town charms. The people of Telluride spent 15 million in personal dollars to buy the stretch of land at the town entrance from the developer in order to keep the quaint and rural feeling the town had a few decades ago before the ski boom.
But back to camping. I love it. I always feel a little yucky and a little closed in and a bit too alone in a motel or cheap hotel. Hence, we don't stay in them and therefore never leave town. But this, I think, in the answer. It is also perfect for a nature sighting trip like this because when I woke up, I didn't feel like I had to race to get back out there. With the nature right here and the kids at home... There is no reason to get out of bed. :)
