Family Friendly Climbing and Colorado Fame

We took the girls climbing again this morning and invited another family to join us. We are planning to have family friendly climbing every Tuesday night, but we got an early start this week with Saturday. We had a great time climbing with our girls and MJ (6) and Macaya (11). Quinn made it to the top of the 5.4 and the 5.5! She was so proud of herself. I think she watch MJ do it, and he realized that is can be done. Mostly I think she realized that when its hard, you don't jut have to quit. I was really proud of her. Kenna was also a rock star. She climbed to the top of the 5.4, which is called Sesame Street. She was so proud of herself. When the girls got their climbing helmets, there were stickers in the box. I wasn't super excited a out plastering our new gear with stickers on the first day. So both girls picked one to put on the front and put a spider sticker on the back (since they climb walls like spider man). Then I told them that when they overcame big obstacles in their climbing and did special things for the first time, they could put another sticker on. They remembered this problem, and it was one of the first things thy each said when they got back to the ground. Anyway, family friendly climbing was a hit for us and our friends, and we are excited to share out new love with more friends and families.

So, this is crazy. When we were packing up, a woman came over and asked if we were done with Sesame Street so her boys could climb it next. We started talking with her about her boys, who were the same age as Kenna and Quinn and had not done much climbing. She was super mellow and nice ... And she did not mention that she is a professional skier/climber/alpinist who sets records on Mt. Everest and is probably one of the strongest female athletes in the world. We sill did not know this when our rope for tangled as we were pulling it down. Basically our only option was to ask the nice wan next to us to help us. So, on her first climb, Tim belayed her up the 5.4 (which she easily could have done without ropes) and then she walked over to our rope at the top of the route to fix our rope. While she was climbing, her friend spilled the beans that she is a big deal. LOL. We looked we up when we got home just by searching her first name and the company name on her gear. Pretty hilarious that Tim belayed her. (Hillaree O'neill) Basically she is the first Colorado celeb we've met, and it "rocked."
