The Temple Lights

For our first Christmas in Utah, we thought it would be fun to dress up and go to Temple Square in Salt Lake to see the Christmas lights on Christmas Eve. But our Christmas Eve soon got booked with other events, so we decided to go the day before Christmas Eve. I think every other little family in Utah had this same idea. It was kind of a nightmare. It was so cold so everyone was crammed into the visitor centers. There were strollers and slow walkers everywhere. The sidewalks were frozen, and it felt more like a cattle call than a spiritual outing. Dear me. We stayed in good spirits, but we were shocked at the amount of people. Obviously it makes sense that it would be a zoo 2 days before Christmas. Oops. I guess everyone just had the same brilliant idea. But we still managed to have a great night with a trip to In N Out and a visit to take a gift to a friend. I guess what matters is that we got along and all enjoyed being together. Quinn's highlight was seeing a Santa Claus just outside the temple square gates. He was on his cell phone, but managed to take a minute for Quinn. Her eyes were sparkling. She loved it.
