A student apologized to me today.
A sassy, rude, I-almost-kicked-her-out-of-my-class-with-an-F student just came up to me after class and apologized for the way she acted in class three weeks ago.
The eye rollers never apologize. This was big, and it made me happy. The part, though, that made me more happy was that I didn't kick her out of my class when I should have because that would have been the easy thing for me to do. Instead, I just kept teaching. I stared right at her for two weeks, and I taught her even though she made it perfectly clear that I was boring her to tears.
For some reason her attitude was different today, and then she apologized.
I'm glad I took the high road.
I hope she learns to love commas the way I do. I love commas.
