I really liked this handout about ways to service at Christmas. Some
of them are kind of oblivious to the cares of the world, but it's pretty
close to awesome. My biggest issues with big service gestures are as
follows:
1) If you pick too many, you will lose your mind, your wallet, and start hating people.
2)
I keep thinking I want my Children to have these cool experiences. But
really they are too young and don't care. Or they want to do it THEIR
way, and that becomes annoying to me. (because they are doing it with my
time and money.) So then I get fed up.
3) Really, I need to just
choose the traditions and adventures that are fun for me, so they can
see me enjoying myself and having a great time celebrating and/or
serving others. The problem here is that -- if I choose for me -- they
are not age appropriate, and when the littles do tune in and want to
help, I get all stressed. "Please don't touch the
Cookies/Gifts/Bows/Pictures/gift bags, etc!"
4) Clearly it is me who is the problem, here. I realize that.
Anyway, I like these ideas!
