Fastest Little girl in the whole wide world

We went next door to the "Cabin Fever" kid ski races this weekend. My kids were not interested in being involved. But they wanted to watch. By "watch" I mean Quinn squeezed me dry of every buck i had at the snack bar and then went home to find things she could sell to spectators to make money for a lemonade. Kenna spent her hours creeping from family to family getting handouts. I turned around to see sitting in the back of a pick up with a preschool dad and a capri-sun juice I did not give her. The two of them sat with legs hang off the edge d the open truck pointing at skiers and snacking away. Then out of the blue Kenna agreed to join the sledding competition. The same dad handed her a sled and she followed a group of 10 year old boys up the Hill to the starting point. Next thing I know all the boys have gone, and it was Kenna's turn. Our friend Dylan was up there and helped her get going. She flew down the hill and picked up major speed at the end. She hit the snow hard and got really cold -- but she wouldn't go home until after the award Ceremony. She came it 4th, but my dear friend Melissa gave Dylan a nudge and nod Kenna's way, and next thing she knew, she got the first place ribbon for "fastest little girl in the whole wide world." It made her life and reminded me why this town is so special. Here's the video of her run. A pic of her waiting alone and hoping for an award. Her with her ribbon. And a pic of all the days winners. Yay, Kenna. So proud of her confidence and style.
