Welcome Christmas and welcome back sugar.
Tim: What are you doing?
Jill: making candied nuts ( for the first tim)
Tim: um ... Why?
Jill: so the house will smell like candy nuts
Tim: can we eat them.
Jill: sure
We have had the same fake Christmas tree since our second year of marriage. For $80 at Walmart, that tree gave us 10 amazing christmases. It was our first major purchase. And we bonded over I love putting up a Christmas tree Way too early. One a few traditions and rituals that we both feel equally strong about. But alas, the tree was just too big and would not fit in the box when we left Colorado. I think it's actually made me dead inside to Christmas. I miss my tree. I miss having a tree that is already paid for. We considered not having a tree this year since we are leaving in a few weeks. But then ginger brightly came into our lives.
Ginger brightly is our new tree. She is 2 feet shorter. But she is two-toned. And she cost $15. When she went up today, with home alone playing in the background, the spirit of Christmas became alive in me.
Pictures to follow.
